While we heat up the internet in preparation for announcements on our first release, here at One Bird Records we have been busy spreading the good word about our plans. We have been speaking at the Music 4.5 conference among the likes of Feargal Sharkey, 7Digital and Jemima Kiss; DJ’ing at multi-disciplinary arts festivals; holding our very own launch party at record store-of-choice Puregroove; speaking on Finnish national radio and so much more.
Simply by being the 100 word-per-minute voices-behind-the-brand that we are, you are here reading this – we believe it is important to have presence in preparation for a release. And so both myself and Laura have been wandering around the streets of London (and occasionally at Butlins for ATP, in Denmark while on holiday etc) telling people all about our grand plans and getting their feedback.
To call this a news post is a slight misnomer, as it’s more a ‘behind the scenes’; we have been taking on advice from our friends at Fortuna Pop and Alcopop Records, listening to their experiences and putting their knowledge into context, and putting our own spin on it all.
People are interested in this holding-bands’-hands-through-the-process concept we’ve got in our minds, and call us brave for it. We don’t think we’re brave, we just want to push our taste out to as wide an audience as possible. And that’s exactly why we have been telling you how we’re wired from the word go: you want to know.
We would also like to thank everyone we’ve spoken to this far in for their kind and selfless words of heed, encouragement and unfettered support. It’s been lovely to see.
